Board Update August 2024
WHAT IS TIME, HOW ARE WE ALREADY HERE???
Welcome to the new school year!
With this Board Update we want to firstly welcome all the new Linkies into the fold! We hope each and everyone of you can find your home with us and join all of our fun events and esports teams!!
TOP Week 2024
TOP Week kicked off on August 19th and of course we had to be there! It was a great experience where our Candidate Board members [I’ll get to them in a bit ;)] got to show off Link and what we’re all about at not just our stand but also during the sports tryout day. They definitely succeeded as we RAN OUT OF FLYERS!! On the first day, and seeing the amount of new freshies that have been joining I think we can all agree it’s been a big success!
Candidate Board
During our GMA in June we showcased who we believe should be taking the charge of Link for the coming year. With one slight change that had to take place due to unforeseen, and unexpected circumstances. I am very glad to announce (once again) that the candidates for the next board are:
President: Bouke Timmermans
Secretary: Fynn Rievers
Treasurer: Irisa Chi
External Affairs Officer: Nisa Geed
Esports Officer: Mirjam van der Steur (taking over from Vasil Yanakiev)
We are aiming to have our last GMA where these candidates can be voted in as the next Board by the end of September!
FTOTM
On June 4th we hosted our last FTOTM of the previous school year where Linkies gathered before their summer vacations. Although I think some of you were already enjoying your vacation early 🤔(imagine passing exams on the first try?). As always everyone gathered and talked about how exams went and played some board games together!
This update may be getting posted after our first FTOTM of the new school year, but you’ll have to wait until the next month to hear about that one ;).
Efteling Trip
On July 7th a group of remaining Linkies made their way to the Efteling. We can thank Albert Heijn for having those coupons making the tickets cheaper! Linkies went on to find their favorite rides, sometimes even overcoming their own fears. I’m always curious about what kind of person someone is when they go to the Efteling… Because you have like those people who go crazy for the rollercoasters, and you have people who go for the lore and I think a 3rd group who just kinda vibes? Okay I’m kinda rambling here but y’know, the Efteling does teach you a lot about your friends!
This wasn’t the first time that Linkies went to the Efteling as a group, and hopefully it won’t be the last!
End of Year BBQ
Our very last event of the last school year was the End of Year BBQ! For the 2nd time now we made our way to the Zeven Geitjes (Seven Goats) right next to the forest! Linkies had the chance to enjoy a delicious buffet of different cuts of meat, sausages and salads to munch on! Of course we also made sure non-meat eaters also had options available ;).
With this event we also took the opportunity to show our appreciation to our committee members! Every committee member who was present received their own personal gift, and every Linkie present got a small gift as well~!
